Who are We

Life Restoration is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to promoting and protecting the mental health and emotional wellbeing of vulnerable children and adolescents in Tanzania.

We recognize that poor mental wellbeing does not occur in isolation it is shaped by injustices and inequalities that limit access to education, safety, opportunity, and support.

We believe every young person deserves to grow up resilient, confident, and supported in environments that nurture dignity and opportunity.

By breaking the stigma and creating safe, joyful spaces through our flagship Recreational Learning for Wellbeing (RLW) approach using sports, play, and creative expression we address both the immediate symptoms and root causes of mental health challenges. We are here to ensure every young person has the tools, resilience, and support to thrive.

What Makes Us Different

Life Restoration addresses mental health and emotional wellbeing in an innovative, play-based, and community-centered way through sports, recreation, creative expression, and life skills learning. Beyond supporting emotional resilience, we also address the root causes that undermine mental health including poverty, education inequity, unsafe environments, and social exclusion – creating safe, inclusive, and continuous support systems where vulnerable children and adolescents can heal, grow, and thrive.

Tackling the Issues That Undermine Mental Health

Poverty and Economic Insecurity

Economic hardship creates chronic stress and limits access to education, care, and safe recreational opportunities.

Education Inequity

Out-of-school and marginalized children miss protective spaces for learning, connection, and emotional development.

Unsafe, Unsupportive, and Climate-Vulnerable Environments

Violence, neglect, and climate shocks cause long-term trauma in children.

Inequality and Social Exclusion

Gender inequality, disability exclusion, and discrimination deny young people dignity, voice, and equal opportunity.
